Bushfire Response Vehicle Project Victoria: Crew Protection

A fire protection coating system was required to protect custom fibreglass floor sections that house the crew in a fleet of bushfire response vehicles in Victoria.

Challenges

The system needed to provide a high level of fire performance , able to protect the combustible surfaces in the event of a full vehicle burn over. The coating also needed to be flexible and hard wearing, achieve a satisfactory level of finish as well as being able to be applied as part of the manufacturing process and custom fitted onto the vehicles.

Solution

Temprotex F1ER was selected for trials due to its unique qualities. After demonstrating successful performance in burn over testing, the Temprotex system was specified for the project.

The application process involves spraying the product onto roof sections, allowing it to cure, and then applying a top coat in the required vehicle colour
